Celebrating 52 Years of Century Management
Celebrating 52 Years of Century Management
In 1974, Arnold Van Den Berg founded Century Management with a clear purpose: to help people build and protect their wealth through disciplined, thoughtful investing.
This September, 52 years later, that purpose remains at the heart of who we are.
Over the years, Century Management has grown and evolved. What began with the management of individual stock and bond portfolios has expanded into a comprehensive wealth management firm. Today, we help clients with investment management, retirement planning, tax and estate planning strategies, and the many financial decisions that arise throughout their lives.
However, when we look back over more than half a century, what we value most is not merely the firm's growth. It is the relationships we have built along the way.
This has always been, and always will be, a people business.
We have had the privilege of working with clients through many stages of life, helping them prepare for retirement, navigate difficult markets, make important financial decisions, care for their families, and plan for future generations. In many cases, we now work with the children and grandchildren of clients who first placed their trust in Century Management decades ago.
That trust means a great deal to us. One of the most meaningful measures of our work is knowing we have helped families improve their financial lives and pursue the goals that matter to them.
We are equally grateful to the people who have built their careers at Century Management. Our firm would not be what it is today without the dedication, integrity, knowledge, and hard work of the many employees who have served our clients over the years. Some have been with us for decades. They have helped shape the firm's culture and carry forward our commitment to putting clients first.
There is also something special about seeing Century Management continue from one generation to the next. Arnold turned 87 this August and remains actively engaged in the firm he founded more than five decades ago. For more than three decades, his son Scott Van Den Berg, President, and son-in-law Jim Brilliant, Chief Investment Officer, have helped lead the firm and build upon what Arnold started. Today, that continuity extends to a third generation, with Scott’s daughter, Rachel Van Den Berg, Senior Financial Planner, and Jim’s son, Greyson Brilliant, Senior Equity Analyst, helping carry Century Management forward. Together with the entire Century Management team, we continue to uphold the values, investment discipline, and commitment to clients that have guided the firm for 52 years.
Much has changed since 1974. Markets have evolved. Technology has advanced. The financial world has grown far more complex. Yet the principles on which Century Management was built have remained remarkably consistent: do the work, think independently, treat people well, act with integrity, and never forget the responsibility that comes with being entrusted with someone else's financial future.
As we celebrate 52 years, above all, we want to say thank you.
Thank you to our clients for your confidence and trust, to the families who have allowed us to serve multiple generations, and to the people at Century Management, past and present, who have devoted so much of their careers to serving others. For more than half a century, we have had the privilege of helping people make important financial decisions and pursue the goals that matter to them. We are proud of our history, grateful for the relationships that have made it possible, and excited about the generations yet to come.
On behalf of all of us at Century Management, thank you for being part of our first 52 years.
