Scott Van Den Berg Celebrates 34 Years with Century Management Financial Advisors

This month marks 34 years with Century Management.

That’s hard to believe when I pause long enough to think about it.

I’ve learned a lot over these years—far more than any credential, market cycle, or textbook could ever teach. Most of those lessons came from clients who trusted me during moments that mattered: retirement decisions, business transitions, market uncertainty, family conversations, and life changes that don’t fit neatly into spreadsheets.

I’ve also learned a great deal from colleagues and mentors—people who challenged my thinking, sharpened my discipline, and reminded me that good advice is as much about judgment and humility as it is about intelligence.

Yes, I’ve earned professional designations along the way. They mattered. They stretched me. They forced me to think more clearly and act more responsibly. But the real education didn’t come from letters after my name. It came from sitting across the table—one conversation and one decision at a time.

What I appreciate most, looking back, is the quality and longevity of the relationships. Many have lasted decades. Some have become multi-generational. That kind of continuity is rare, and I don’t take it lightly.

Most of all, I’m grateful that after 34 years, I still genuinely love what I do. Helping people think clearly about money, purpose, and long-term decisions continues to feel meaningful and energizing. That’s a gift.

Thank you to the clients, colleagues, and friends who have been part of this journey. I’m proud of the path behind me—and optimistic about the work still ahead.
